We are a lively and welcoming group which aims to advance knowledge, appreciation and care of the arts through talks, study groups and outings to places of interest. In addition, we are committed to promoting the arts to young people through school-based project work.
As a member society of The Arts Society we enjoy all the benefits of a national arts group, which includes a high quality quarterly journal, access to study days, foreign travel and contact with experts across the whole spectrum of the arts.
Under normal circumstances we meet in the superb auditorium of the Cranleigh Arts Centre with its raked seating and state of the art sound and projection systems. See our Venue page for more information.
Talks are given regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month except in August and December. We have two identical meetings on the same day which gives members welcome flexibility should they be unable to attend their usual session. Afternoon meetings begin at 2.00pm and evening meetings at 7.30pm. Guests and members of the public are welcome at our talks and attendance is free. However, a gift by way of a voluntary donation to the Society as a contribution towards its operating costs would be appreciated.
In addition to our monthly talks, we arrange day visits to places of interest. These are generally by coach leaving from Stocklund Square. These are very popular with our members and are booked on a first come first served basis. We also offer occasional group holidays on an arts-related theme, usually organised through specialist tour operators (see Programme). There is a regular newsletter to keep members up-to-date with all of our activities.
Currently, we have vacancies for new members at both our afternoon and evening meetings. The annual membership fee is £48 with a one-off joining fee of £10. Contact our Membership Secretary for further information.
